Shieldaig Community Association SCIO

The Community agreed in October 2013 to form a new SCIO which incorporated both the Shieldaig Sports Association and the Shieldaig Village Association.

Shieldaig Community Association SCIO (SCA SCIO or SCA, sometimes referred to as the Association) is a Registered Charity and accountable to OSCR (the body who regulate and oversee Scottish Charities).

A copy of a guidance document all about SCIO's is available here:    SCIOS-a guide

Membership: Permanent residents of Shieldaig and local area can become Members and Trustees. We use the area determined by the Community Council catchment. A form is available to download from the SCA Membership Page.

Minutes are available on  SCA Minutes pages. Agendas on the Meetings page.

Please get involved - the SCA SCIO is here to organise and run community activities (such as Fete, Xmas party, Bonfire night) to look after the facilities we already have (such as the Sports Field, All Weather Court, Pontoon, etc) and to plan and manage new projects which the community wants to see happen (taking over the Toilet Block, putting in Visitor Moorings etc) .

The SCIO' aims are for the advancement of education. The advancement of public participation in sport. The provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended.

The SCA SCIO is the organisation within the community that has money / a budget to spend on running, organising and planning the above. The Community Council is more of a statutory body involved with planning, roads etc and does not usually have any money spend.

If you aren't involved in the conversation we won't know what you want to happen.
